38 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Cruises Over Stone Creek 44-33 (2-19-13)

Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates Forward Marne Blick led his team over the Stone Creek Panthers 44-33 by hitting the nets for 20 points (9 Field Goals and 2 Free Throws).

DOVER - Eight-year Head Coach Earl Sundheimer's Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-0) (26-15) had little trouble in sending the Stone Creek Panthers (0-1) (4-10) into the Consolation end of the joust 44-33, but the Pirates' forward Marne Blick found himself in a real battle for individual honors with forward Ed Lorenz, Stone Creek ace.  In fact, Lorenz came off tops, nosing Blick 23 points to 20.  Blick hit 9 field goals and 2 free throws, while Lorenz hit 10 field goals and 3 free throws.

But, 3rd-year Head Coach James C. Wilson had only 1 Lorenz so the Pirates moved into a 14-1 lead in the 1st quarter and then went on to lead 19-5 at the half and 34-20 at the 3-quarter mark.

Forward Don Shepfer and guard Phil Hostetler gathered 7 points apiece, while guard Don Hershberger picked up another 6 points for the Pirates.  Guard Kugler hit 5 markers and forward Reinhart had an additional 4 points in their contribution for the Panthers.
