Baltic Eagles Senior Forward Adrian "Andy" Gerber led his team to their 1st ever Sectional Tournament game with 12 points (6 field goals) in winning a narrow 28-26 victory over the Clark basketball team from Holmes County.
DOVER - The Clark baseketball team from Holmes County put up a fine fight against the Baltic Eagles (3-1), but came up 2 points short falling 28-26 in their Sectional Tournament game. Adrian "Andy" Gerber gathered in the triumph for the unsteady Baltic crew with 6 baskets and a total of 12 markers, while Clark can blame its defeat on foul shooting with 4 hits out of 17 tosses. The contest was ragged, but close enough throughout to make it good.
The boys were all even at the 1st period, 5-5 and Clark surged ahead at halftime, 18-15, only to be held to 2 points the following period with Baltic taking a 22-20 advantage. Both squads scored nip-and-tuck with 6 markers apiece in the final stanza. Clark's T. Mullet, 200 pounds of center, dragged down scoring honors with 13 and would have had twice as many had the Holmes County lads built their attack around his pivot play.
Gerber of Baltic led his team with 12 points with Senior center Dick Regula adding 8 more markers. T. Mullet led Clark with 13 points. His teammate, forward Wagers, followed up with 8 points.
