38 - Strasburg Wears-Down Gnaden In 2nd Half Surge 40-29 (2-26-38)









Strasburg High School Tigers Senior Forward Paul "Pete" Haswell led his team to a 40-29 victory against the Gnadenhutten Indians canning 12 points (6 field goals).




Strasburg High School Tigers Senior Guard Charles "Babe" Reiger followed up his teammate adding another 10 points (3 field goals and 4 free throws) in downing the Indians.


DOVER - The Mighty Strasburg Tigers (3-1) (41-9), defeated Friday night by the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates 29-25, led throughout the contest with the Gnadenhutten Indians (2-2) (17-19) to defeat the Warriers 40-29 in yet another Consolation contest.  The victory was nailed-down with a 2nd half surge as the 1st half quarters were nick-and-tuck.

Gnadenhutten took an 8-6 lead over Strasburg in the 1st period of their game and were still leading 13-12 at the halftime intermission, but the Tigers came out after the break in play to go in front by 26-19 and continued to pour in baskets in the final stanza.

Senior forward Paul "Pete" Haswell led Strasburg scoring with 12 points, while Senior center Ed Kohl led Gnaden with the same number as both were rewarded game honors.  Senior guard Charles "Babe" Reiger scored 10 points for the Tigers and Junior forward Leland Goettge drummed up 8 markers for the Indians.
