35 - Midvale Wears Out Sugarcreek-Shanesville 29-22 (3-2-35)
DOVER - The Midvale Blue Devils (4-1) (14-8) reached the final by upsetting the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-2) (19-12) by a score of 29-22 in an afternoon semi-final Consolation game. The Pirates had played its heart out in a great effort to down the Bolivar Cardinals 43-38 on Friday night and had not recovered from that loss when tossed into the ring with the Blue Devils. Midvale has won 3 straight games since their initial loss, also from Bolivar 32-28, and were looking forward to the big showdown with the Strasburg Tigers for the Consolation Championship being played as the very next contest at 8:00PM.
Forward Frank Cox led the Blue Devils in scoring with 14 big points (5 Field goals and 4 free throws). The Pirates were led by Senior Harold Arnold with 6 points (2 field goals and 2 free throws). Sophomores guard Cliff Moomaw and forward John Harmon followed up their teammate with 5 points apiece (2 field goals and a free throw and 1 field goal and 3 free throws).
