35 - Midvale Prevails Over Baltic 19-16 (3-1-35)
DOVER - The Midvale Blue Devils (3-1) (13-8) were early season favorites to be one of the better teams in the Class B League, fought their way through 2 opponents at Legion Hall last night to enter the semi-finals of the county Consolation Tournament. The Blue Devils first defeated the Dundee Eagles 14-11, beating back a last quarter rally and then eliminated the Baltic Eagles (2-2) (6-12) 19-16. Midvale, who led all the way, ended the 1st period with a 5-2 lead and just able to hang on to the lead 9-8 by halftime. A little breathing room at the end of the 3rd period with a score of 15-12. Both teams scored 4 points in the 4th and last period and the Eagles packed their bags.
The Blue Devils were led by forward Frank Cox who ended up with game honors scoring 9 points (3 field goals and 3 free throws). The Eagles' guard Edgar "Red" Ott led his team with 8 points (4 field goals). No other player on the floor managed to get in double figures in this fine display of defensive play.
