35 - Baltic Ousts Port 29-19 (2-23-35)









DOVER - Topping off Saturday night's grind of basketball, the Baltic Eagles (2-1) (6-11) displayed a ravaging attack in the last half to oust the Port Washington Purple Riders (1-2) (4-11) from the Consolation Division.  The score showed 29-19.  The Eagles trailed badly in the 1st quarter 12-4 and 16-11 at the half.  But, the onslaught of the 3rd quarter put Baltic into a 21-17 advantage as Port, bewildered, attempted to check the upset.  The Eagles were paced by forward Ward Lahm and guard Edgar "Red" Ott and fired away to a clean cut win, allowing the Purple Riders only 3 points in the entire last half of the contest.  Baltic scored 18 points during that half.

Baltic was led by Lahm, Ott and guard Jack Hammel with 10 (4 field goals and 2 free throws), 9 (3 field goals and 3 free throws) and 7 points (3 field goals and a free throw).  Senior forward Russ Glazer and Junior center Gene Decker led Port Washington with 6 points apiece (3 field goals) and (2 field goals and 2 free throws).
