35 - Eastern Ohio District Class B Basketball Tournament








BOLIVAR PITTED AGAINST MATAMORAS - STRASBURG PULLS AMSTERDAM FIVE

DENNISON - Tuscarawas County's 2 Class B entries, the Strasburg Tigers (5-1) and Bolivar Cardinals (5-1), will play their 1st games on Thursday, March 14th.  Bolivar plays the New Matamoras Cougars at 2PM and Strasburg plays the Amsterdam Rams, the team that eliminated the Tigers last year, at 7:30PM.  The tournament will open with 8 games Thursday, settle down with 4 semi-finals Friday and end with the 2 finals on Saturday.  The Cadiz Cardinals and the Frazeyburg Red Raiders will open the meeting at 1PM Thursday.  At 2PM Bolivar and New Matamoras play.  The Malvern Green Hornets plays the Belle Valley Bombers at 6:30 and Strasburg meets Amsterdam at 7:30.  Winners of the Cadiz-Frazeysburg and Bolivar-New Matamoras games meet Friday at 6:30.  Winners of the Malvern-Belle Valley and Strasburg-Amsterdam games meet Frday at 7:30.  The drawing was in charge of E.F. McCarroll of Dennison, Tournament Manager and was so arranged that teams from the different sections drew against teams from the other setions.  There were 3 sections of Class B combinations.

Admission prices for all sessions of the tournament except the final, will be 40 cents to all.  For the final session the price will be hiked to 50 cents, McCarroll said.  The Strasburg-Amsterdam game stands head and shoulders up as the classic of the 1st round of the B competition.  Head Coaches Paul M. Roby and Ludwig Birk of Strasburg and Bolivar were both present as were representatives of Cadiz, Malvern, Belle Valley and Amsterdam.

Winner Malvern-Belle Valley vs Winner Strasburg-Amsterdam 7:30PM

SATURDAY'S SCHEDULE

Winners of the 2 Friday night games meet at 8PM
