34 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pops Gnaden Again 27-20 (2-17-34)
DOVER - The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-1) (15-9), trying to make a comeback from their defeat at the hands of the Midvale Blue Devils 33-24, tossed out the Gnadenhutten Indians (1-2) (14-11) for the 2nd time in this tournament, 21-11 in the latest Consolation game. The Pirates had the Indians walk-the-plank at every quarter, as Sugarcreek-Shanesville led the entire game. The 1st quarter read 8-4, 17-12 at the half and 19-16 at the 3rd quarter stanza and the Pirates were off and running in the 4th.
Forward John Harmon of the Pirates dropped in 8 points (3 field goals and 2 free throws) for game honors. Junior forward Prince Harmon, Senior forward Harold "Ted" Arnold and Senior Dean "Squirt" Norris all followed up with 5 points each (all 2 field goals and 1 free throw apiece). The Indians were led by guards Melvin Struchen and Walter Blick who swished 6 points each on 3 field goals apiece.
