34 - Port Whips New Cumberland 33-18 (2-16-34)
DOVER - The Port Washington Purple Riders (1-0) (3-7) held the New Cumberland Trojans (0-1) (0-3) without a single field goal during the entire 1st half and ended the 1st quarter at 5-0 and by halftime it was 18-1, while wrapping up the game with a 33-18 victory. The Trojans collected 6 field goals in the 2nd half, but were swamped under the 17 point lead by Port in the 1st half. Port ended the 3rd period ahead 24-8. New Cumberland outscored the Purple Riders in the last quarter 10-9.
Senior guard Lewis Decker led all scorers with 10 points, all on 5 field goals. Senior guard Ed Dichler contributed another 6 points, 2 buckets and 2 free throws, while Junior forward Russ Glazer added 5 points, 2 baskets and a foul shot to round out the Purple Riders scoring. New Cumberland was led by guard Socco who potted 7 points, 2 field goals and 3 free throws.
