34 - Midvale Eakes Out 28-27 Win Against Bolivar (2-16-34)
DOVER - A tall lean lad with lots of legs is this Class who jumped center for the Bolivar Cardinals (0-1) (12-10) last night and was high scorer as the Cardinals where sluffed off into the Consolation Division of the tournament when they dropped a one-point decision to Midvale 28-27. Bolivar fought uphill to make the game a hot race and overcome a 7-2 lead which the Midvale Blue Devils (1-0) (9-5) held in the opening period. By halftime the Cardinals were only 2 points behind with the score 11-9, but trailed by 3 as the 3rd period ended 21-18.
The 2 teams met on the Bolivar floor a week ago in a Class B League game and their only encounter of the season until last night. Midvale won that contest 34-30, but only after a last period as hectic as that of last night. Bolivar center Class potted 5 field goals and 3 free throws for a total of 13 points. Paul and Frank Brumholtz of Midvale had 10 and 8 points to lead their team to victory.
