42 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Destroys Baltic 38-18 (2-26-42)









DOVER - In the 1st of 2 Consolation Divison games Thursday night, the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (2-1) (34-22) had little trouble with the Baltic Eagles (1-2) (18-27) by blowing away the Eagles by 20 points 38-18.  The Pirates are attempting a comeback after losing to the Dundee Pirates 34-26 in their 1st game which sent them into the Consolation Division.

Sugarcreek-Shanesville jumped out to a comanding 7-2 lead in the 1st quarter of the contest and would never relingush their lead.  Baltic managed to score 7 points in the 2nd period; however, the Pirates continued their scoring pace by dropping in another 9 points as the score showed the Sugarcreek-Shanesville cagers leading at intermission 16-9.  The Pirates managed to double their points in the 3rd stanza, while their defense checked the Eagles who could only manager 5 points...Sugarcreek-Shanesville 32-14.  In the final quarter the Pirates went to their reserve bench as did Baltic to finish out the game.

Guard Bill Mast picked up game honors by dropping in 10 points, while Senior guard Lowell Zechiel hit for 7 points as did Senior guard Bob Immel for the Pirates.  Senior center George Christner and Junior guard Junior Ackerman lead the Eagles with 4 points each.
