42 - It's Stone Creek In Overtime - 32-29 - Against Midvale! (2-21-42)

DOVER - First-Year Head Coach M.R. Helwick, former 7-Year Head Coach at Midvale, coached the Stone Creek Golden Panthers (2-1) (9-18), trying to eke out a win over the Midvale Blue Devils (0-2) (33-16) in hopes that forward Bill Ridenour, who broke out with measles after scoring 24 points Thursday night, would be able to play this week, led throughout the game, but slowed up in the final half.

In this 3rd Consolation game in the tournament, the Golden Panthers forged ahead 10-4 in the 1st period of play.  Come halftime, Stone Creek increased their lead by 8 points...16-8.  The Blue Devils managed a come-back of sorts by positioning themselves just 3 points behind 24-21 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Senior guard Gene Lindsay, of Midvale, completed the comeback in the final stanza by tying the score 27-27 in the last 15 seconds with a free throw to throw the contest into overtime.

The overtime period saw forward Reifenschneider and center K. Buehler score free throws and forward Ralph Kilchenmann a field goal before Lindsay scored another fielder to give Stone Creek a 31-29 lead with half a minute to go.  K. Buehler dropped in another free throw for the Golden Panthers in the last 10 seconds.

Ralph Kilchenmann gained game honors by being high scorer of the game hitting 8 field goals and a free throw for 17 points to lead Stone Creek.  Midvale's Lindsey, Senior guard Urban Hawkins and Junior guard Ed Hines scored 8, 7 and 6 points in leading their team in a losing cause.
