42 - Gnaden Team Leaves for State Class B Meet
DOVER - The town of Gnadenhutten knew again today that the High School Basketball Team won the Eastern Ohio District Class B Title and was taking part in the State finals at Wittenberg College in Springfield. First-Year Head Coach Ralph "Blondie" Gartrell and his bandofplucky Indians left at 7:15AM this morning in a school bus for Springfield where tomorrownight at 10PM they meet the Ottawa Hills Green Arrows of Lucas County in their first test of the State Tournament.
Blairing horns and a caravan of private cars accompanied the Indians on several trips around the village before the bus, decorated from stem to stern with the school colors, Red and White, started down the road. Coach Gartrell and his squad of 10 were accompanied to Splringfield by Supt. Ross Virtue and Faculty Manager R.W. Johnson. Members of the squad making the trip are:

The group will stay at the Shawnee Hotel. The Indians planned to arrive in Springfield in time to practice on the tournament floor this afternoon. If successful against Ottawa Hills, the Indians will meet the winner of a Waynesburg-Latham Western contest Friday night at 9PM. Classes in Gnaden will be dismissed tomorrow and Friday.
