39 - Stone Creek Blasts Port 41-20 (2-18-39)
Stone Creek Golden Panther Senior Forward Ed Lorenz, their ace scoring machine, clicked the nets for 18 points (7 field goals and 4 free throws) and picking up easily, game honors and led his team in trouncing the Port Washington Purple Riders 41-20.
DOVER - The Golden Panther's Senior forward Ed Lorenz came back into his scoring form against the Port Washington Purple Riders (0-2) (4-19) hitting the nets for 18 points as the Stone Creek Panthers (1-1) (5-12) came home on the chin strap after running down the Purple Riders 41-20. First- year Head Coach W.E. Adams pulled Lorenz out of the game early in the final quarter.
The Panthers leaped to a 6-4 advantage at the end of the 1st quarter. Stone Creek's defense blanked Port Washington in the 2nd quarter, while the Panthers team scored another 13 points and the scoredboard read 19-4...Stone Creek, at intermission. As the Riders picked up the pace with 6 points in the 3rd quarter, The Panthers continued to run-up the score with another 13 points and at the end of the quarter led 32-10. In the 4th stanza, Port increased their output with 10 points, but it was against a different Panther team by then.
Lorenz led Stone Creek with 18 points and no other player hit double figures. Port Washington was led by their Junior center, Henry Linard with 9 points (2 field goals and 5 free throws).
