39 - Bolivar Overpowers Stone Creek 39-24 (2-24-39)

Stone Creek Golden Panthers Senior forward Ed Lorenz poured in 16 points (5 field goals and 6 free throws) in gaining game honors in a losing effort against the Bolivar Cardinals 39-24.  Lorenz was one of the stars of the League and tournament.  He had scored 7 points against Gnaden and 18 markers against Port Washington for a total of 41 points.  The Panthers bow out of the tournament with a 1-2 record.

DOVER - The Bolivar Cardinals (2-1) (23-17), presenting a well-balanced attack, trounced the Stone Creek Golden Panthers 39-24 in the 1st game of the tournament on the 24th.

The Panthers, through the efforts of its high-scoring Ed Lorenz, held the Cardinals to even terms in the 1st period, which ended with Bolivar leading 9-7, but fell behind from there on in, as Lorenz lost the range.  The 2nd quarter found the Panthers picking up 6 points, while the Cardinals hit double that with 12 markers and at the half Bolivar led 21-13.  The Cardinal Defense held the Panthers to just 5 points in the 3rd stanza, and again Bolivar raced to the end of the quarter leading 31-18 to more-or-less wrap up the game.

Bolivar forward Senior Justin Huth and guard Paul Burris once again, for the 2nd straight game, led the Cardinals in scoring, this time, with 13 points apiece.  Senior Ed Lorenz hit the hoops for 16 points, while the Panthers took to the showers for the last time this year.
