Strasburg Tiger Freshman Forward Garver Wallick scored 14 points (7 field goals) for game honors as the Tigers overpowered the Walnut Creek Cardinals 56-25.
DOVER - Eight year Head Coach Paul M. Roby used every man on his squad as Strasburg (4-0), County League and Tournament Champions, jumped off to a slow start, but began piling up the score on the Walnut Creek Cardinals of Holmes County early in the 2nd period.
Numerous misplays gave the Tigers only a 10-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, but Strasburg started hitting regularly in the 2nd to end the half with a 28-9 lead. The 3rd stanza saw the substitutes take complete charge and hold a lead of 43-21. The Tigers hit the hoops for 13 points in the 4th quarter to secure the victory, while the Cardinals picked up but 4 more points.
Freshman Garver Wallick, a substitute forward paced the Tiger's attack with 14 points (7 field goals), while his teammate Senior Center Ramon Renner followed with 10 points (4 field goals and 2 free throws). Junior Forward Bob Raica and Junior guard Bob Deibel followed that up with 9 and 8 points (3 field goals and 3 free throws and 3 field goals and 2 free throws), respectively. The Cardinals were led by guard Gerber with 8 points (3 field goals and 3 free throws) and center Hershberger with 7 markers (3 field goals and a foul toss).
