37 - Midvale Blue Devils To Make Columbus Trip By Train









DOVER - With Dick Belknap, big Freshman center, recovering from an injured ankle and a chicken dinner awaiting at the State Capital, the Midvale Blue Devils today were chomping at the bit, ready to entrain at Dennison Thursday morning to take their crack at the State Class B Title at Columbus Thursday night.  Belknap, who injured his ankle a short time before the Midvale-Strasburg game on Saturday night, is improving and may be in shape to be used in the 1st game, Head Coach M.R. Helwig said today.

A pep rally is scheduled for the last period of school Wednesday when students will give the players a rousing sendoff.  Privae cars will take the 10 players, Coach Helwig and Faculty Manager P.O. Cochran to the Dennison station Thursday where at 7:34AM they will board a train for Columbus.

They will stay at the Deshler Wallick Hotel and after holding a practice session at the Ohio State Gymnasium, will eat a chicken dinner at 12:30PM.  The dinner will be given by Pat Dunn, State Representative from Strasburg, who offered the dinner to any Tuscarawas County Class B Team which made the trip to Columbus.  There will be plenty of time for the team to digest the dinner before their game with South Amherst Falcons at 8PM, Coach Helwig said.

Above is shown Strasburg's magificent new $149,000 High School building, the new home of the Strasburg Tigers, which will be dedicated tonight by State Director of Education E.L. Bowsher, Architect, R.F. Medicus of Youngstown will turn the building over to Miss Frances Kapitzky, President of the Board of Education.
