44 - Midvale Out-Lasts Dundee 48-26 (2-18-44)
DOVER - The Dundee Bulldogs (0-1) (16-29) took the Midvale Blue Devils (2-0) (35-17) "round and round" before growing weary anjd falling behind in the stretch. The Blue Devils took an 8-4 lead in the 1st quarter, but the Bulldogs tied the count at 10 in the 2nd period and trailed only 14-12 at the half. In the 3rd stanza Dundee tied it at 14, but slipped behind and trailed 27-22 when the session ended.
Forward Jim Rennicker of Midvale hit 10 points in the final chukker to spark the Midvale drive that snowed the Dogs under. The 10 markers, scored on 5 field goals, boostered his evening's total to 26, all scored on field goals. He tallied 19 on Thursday night, giving him 45 points for his 2 appearances in the tournament and the lead over others in the individual scoring race. His teammate, Junior forward Sam Booth, followed up with another 10 points and Junior center Gene Hawkins added 9 points. Dundee's forward Klein picked up 11 points on 5 field goals and a free throw.
Rennicker, who canned 26 points, came within 4 points of the single game record held by Sugarcreek-Shanesville's Harland Sliffe who scored 30 points against the Tuscarawas Broncos in 1927.
