DOVER - Last night's Strasburg Tigers (3-1) (51-11) and the Bolivar Cardinals (2-2) (27-22) Consolation Division tussle was close throughout with 2nd-year Head Coach Sam Andrews starting his Tiger 2nd string in the 1st half, but substituting his 1st string after the Cardinals led 14-10 at the end of the first half. Strasburg took a 21-17 lead going into the final quarter, but Bolivar went ahead 22-21 on guard Warren Klink 's field goal and free throw before Junior forward Ken Houtz tied it up with a free throw.
Center Bud Ross scored a free toss to give the Cardinals a 1-point lead, but Junior guard Dick Welsch scored a field goal and Houtz another free throw to give the Tigers a 25-23 lead with less than 2 minutes to go. Bud Ross scored a basket from under the hoop to knot the count again, but Junior forward Gene Gordon dropped in a shove shot to make the score 27-25 and it ended that way.
Klink of Bolivar led the scoring for the game with 9 points, while his teammate Bud Ross picked up 6 markers. Welsch's 6 points was high for the Tigers with Houtz making 5 and Junior center Gene Hawk 4 (all free throws).
