Former Head Coach George Wrentmore of the 1940-41 Bolivar Cardinals Basketball Team.
Head Coach George Wrentmore of the Bolivar Cardinals has enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and left his position at the high school on Tuesday, December 10th it was announced by Superintendent Karl Muster. Coach Wrentmore, in his 2nd year at Bolivar, had already had basic training in aeronautics and was taking steps to obtain an officer's commission. He reported to Cleveland and was expected to be sent to Kansas, according to the coach.
Wrentmore's Cardinal cage team last season tied with the Midvale Blue Devils and the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates at 8-2 for the Class B League Championship and this season had been a heavy favorite to grab the bunting single-handedly. Supt. Karl Muster, himself a former coach, took over during the absence of Wrentmore temporarily, and was expected to find a successor to Wrentmore by the time the holiday vacation period was completed. Muster coached for 8 years at Coventry, near Akron. Eventurally, John Major was hired as Head Coach in January.
Coach Wrentmore's home is at Warren and he is a graduate of Kent State University.
