Gnadenhutten Indians Guard Don Miller won game honors scoring 13 points (5 field goals and 3 free throws) leading the Indians in capturing their 2nd straight Tuscarawas County Consolation Division Basketball Championship dropping the Mighty Strasburg Tigers 22-20.  Miller has totaled 21 points in tournament play averaging 5.3 markers per game.

DOVER - Head Coach Sam Andrews of the Strasburg Tigers (3-2) (51-12) started his 1st string against the Gnadenhutten Indians (3-1) (27-23) in the 8th Annual Consolation Division Basketball Tournament building up a 7-3 lead in the 1st period, but bogged down in the 2nd quarter and despite the fact that he sent his 2nd string in the Tigers were held scoreless, falling behind 10-7.  The Indians continued its scoring through the 3rd stanza as Coach Andrews sent back his 1st string and when the quarter wound up Gnadenhutten was still in front 17-12.

A field goal and free throw by Junior forward Ken Houtz of Strasburg made the score 19-15, but little Don Miller made 5 markers for the Indians, while the Tigers were making only a basket and Gnaden led 22-17 with 2 minutes to go.  Junior center Gene Hawk sank a free throw for Strasburg and Sophomore guard Tom Miller sent a long shot through, but the rally came too late.

Outstanding player of the game was Don Miller from Gnadenhutten who plopped in 13 points through the net to pace the scoring, while Ken Houtz led the Strasburg attack with 7 markers.
