33 - Sugarcreek-Shaneville Hammers Baltic 46-20 (2-25-33)

DOVER - That new rule drafted to eliminate stalling from basketball went for naught when the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (3-0) (13-7) defeated the Baltic Eagles (2-1) (4-8) by a score of 46-20 in the lower-bracket semi-final Saturday afternoon.  The Pirates piled up a comfortable lead in the 1st half and spent much of the 2nd division of the game toying with the ball.  A 12-4 lead in the opening period went to 23-10 at halftime when the finalists began stalling.  The Eagles were held scoreless in the 3rd period which ended 34-10.

Head Coach A.C. Bahler of the winning team jerked his varsity in the final period and substituted his 2nd team which continued to out-score Baltic.  Norris, Sugarcreek-Shanesville guard, was high scorer of the game with 15 points, 7 baskets and a foul shot.  Forward Boyd Burkey, who passed up many shots to hand the scoring irons to his teammates, was 2nd with 12 markers, 5 field goals and 2 free throws.  Sophomore guard Paul Levengood counted the most for Baltic with 8 points to his credit with 4 field goals.
