33 - Dennison Trips-Up Sugarcreek-Shanesville In OT 33-29 (3-4-33)










DOVER - The Dennison Railroaders battled uphill through 3 periods and into an overtime stanza to scuttle the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirate ship (4-2) by a 33-29 count.  The teams were tied 3-3 at the end of the opening period, but the Railroaders held a 12-11 lead at the half.  The Pirates swept to the fore and led 23-19 at the end of the 3rd period.  Dennison tied the count at 28-28 at the end of regular time.  Guard Zimmerman produced the knot with a free throw in the last 3 seconds of play for the eventual winners.  At one time in the period, Sugarcreek-Shanesville held a 26-20 advantage.

Guard Bente and center Bridgeman of the Railroaders, both contributed field goals and Bridgeman flipped through a foul in the extra period to account for Dennison's points.  The Pirates' scoring was confined to 1 free throw by center Harold Logsdon in the overtime period.  Dennison's Bridgeman led the scoring with 12 points which made him high scorer of the tournament with 48 points in 3 games, while guard Dean Norris was high for Sugarcreek with 9, four field goals and a foul toss.
