33 - Strasburg Gets By Byesville 25-18 (3-10-33)

DENNISON - It's too bad that 2 such teams as the Strasburg Tigers (6-0) and the Byesville Colts had to meet in the 1st round of the tournament.  The game the 2 played last night can easily be put down as one of the best 3 or 4, that have been played in Tuscarawas County this season.  Playing steady, smooth and cooly, the teams went through the 1st three periods on even footing and when they started into the last canto, Byesville led by 1 point with the score 18-17.

The score was tied 5-5 at the close of the 1st period and at 12-12 at halftime.  Early in the 3rd period, the Colts splurted to the front and at one time had the Tigers on the short end of an 18-12 count.  Strasburg rallied to close the gap.  All the fine defensive ball both teams played in the 3 first periods and it was exceptional, was completely eclipsed by the performance of the Champion Tigers in the 4th period when they held Byesville scoreless, while adding 8 points to their own score.  John "Johnny" Studer, ace forward of Strasburg, was high scorer with 10 points counted on 4 field goals and 2 free throws.  Droltz, Colt guard and worthy foe of any Class A player, was 2nd high with eight.
