36 - Mineral City Takes Down Baltic 22-14 (2-22-36)
Baltic Eagles 2nd Year Head Coach Paul F. Scheetz (Denison University) drops his 2nd game, this time against the Mineral City Tigers 22-14, which closes out the teams season.
Baltic Eagles Senior Guard Harry Lower leads his team with 8 points against Mineral City.
DOVER - The Mineral City Tigers (1-1) (7-15) takes over at the end of the 3rd quarter taking out the Baltic Eagles (0-2) (10-16) by 8 points...22-14 in the 2nd Consolation Tournament game Saturday afternoon. The Eagles were sent packing to the Consolation Division by the Bolivar Cardinals who thumped them by a score of 50-30. The Tigers also took a beating from the Tuscarawas Broncos, with a 12 point 30-18 loss and a trip to the Consolation Division.
Baltic jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the 1st period and held on to an 8-5 lead by the half. In the 3rd quarter, Mineral City's defense limited the Eagles to just 1 point and the Tigers found themselves ahead by a point, 10-9. Mineral City continued the onslaught by hitting for 12 points in the 4 quarter and sending Baltic home.
Forward Dean Ackerman picked up game honors by getting into double figures with 11 points (4 field goals and 3 free throws). His teammate guard Louis Smitley contributed another 7 points (3 field goals and a free throw) for the winning Tigers. Senior guard Harry Lower led the Eagles with 8 points (2 field goals and 4 free throws), while Junior guard Wilson Eckert managed another 5 points (1 field goal and 3 free throws) ending Baltic's season.
