36 - Dundee "Bad Medicine" Stops Tusky 22-18 (2-22-36)

Tuscarawas Broncos Senior Forward Allen Veigel leads his team in scoring with 5 points in a losing cause, while he and his team head for the Consolation Tournament.

DOVER - Refusing to stay put and continuing their role as the "Bad Medicine" of the county's Class B circuit, the Dundee Bulldogs (2-0) (12-14) plastered their upset of the Tuscarawas Broncos (1-1) (7-14) into place in the final period of their hard fought contest with a 22-18 victory on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs were leading only 14-13 when the final period opened and they stretched that lead to 4 points before the gun cracked.  A crackup in the 3rd quarter almost resulted in the upsetters being upset.  Dundee, after trailing 4-2 in the opener, took a 12-5 command in the 2nd and then nearly lost it in the third stanza.

Center Dick Kobel, of Dundee and tricky one-handed shooter, hit the ring from action 3 times and another 3 from the free throw line to amass 9 points and lead all scorers.  The Veigel brothers, who tore into the Mineral City Tigers with 26 points between them on Friday night, were held to only 8 points by the Eagles.  Senior forward Allen Veigel got 5 points (1 field goal and 3 free throws) to lead his team and his brother, Junior center Lester Veigel, picked up three markers (a field goal and a free throw).

The one upset...if it can be called that...was darkhorse Dundee's triumph over Tuscarawas one of the 4 seeded teams.
