36 - Midvale Sends Tusky Home 22-15 (2-29-36)









Tuscarawas Broncos Junior Center Lester Veigel leads his team in scoring with 6 points in a losing cause with the Midvale Blue Devils pounding the Broncos 22-15 and sending the Tuscarawas team home for the season.


DOVER - The Midvale Blue Devils (2-1) (16-10) reached the final bracket by defeating the Tuscarawas Broncos (1-2) (7-15) by a score of 22-15 in the 1st Consolation game on Saturday afternoon.  The Broncos had ended the League Season in a tie for 3rd place with the Bolivar Cardinals at 7-3.  The Blue Devils were the Champions of the the League this season with a perfect 10-0 record and finished the entire season unbeaten at 16-0.

With Midvale's 7 point win over Tuscarawas, the Blue Devils move on to the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Consolation ChampionshipTournament game.  The Broncos packed-up and headed for home as they closed out their season.  Midvale's high scoring guard Frank Baumholtz led his team in scoring with 8 points (2 field goals and 4 free throws) and gained game honors.  His teammates, Guard Delbert Keffer hit for 5 points (2 field goals and 1 free throw) and forward Fred Marshall picked up another 4 points (1 field goal and 2 free throws) to secure the win.  Tuscarawas was led by Junior center Lester Veigel who cramed in 6 points (all free throws), while his brother, Senior forward Allen Veigel, chipped in 5 points (2 field goals and a free throw) in a losing effort.
