DOVER - The Port Washington Eagles (0-1) (2-6) never had a chance with the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (1-0) (8-6) after the 1st quarter of the opening game of the county tournament, last night at Legion Hall and was eliminated by a score of 48-27.  The victors were held to a 15-9 score in the 1st quarter, but went on a spree in the 2nd frame to pile up a 36-15 advantage.  This was increased in the 3rd quarter to 43-21 as an entire 2nd team took the floor for Sugarcreek-Shanesville.

The regulars were permitted to rest the remainder of the way, substitute players holding Port Washington to 6 points in the final quarter, while scoring five.  The winners made 20 field goals, Boyd Burkey and HugoWassem each garnering 12 points.  Sam Eckfield led the Flyers with 10 points, while the fine floor play of Norman Glazer was one of the game's features.
