32 - 10th Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament







DOVER - The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates and Port Washington Purple Riders will open the 10th Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament at Dover's Legion Hall on Thursday, February 25, 1932.  According to drawings made today at the New Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce rooms the opening whistle will sound at 7PM.

All 10 teams in the league will complete, including the Gnadenhutten Indians, which had 2 postponed games against the Port Washington Purple Riders and Midvale Blue Devils during the league season due to scarlet fever epidemic at Gnaden.

Three games will be played Thursday night, 3 Friday night and 2 on Saturday afternoon with the championship contest scheduled for Saturday night.  The strongest teams were placed in separate brackets, assuring close contests in the semi-finals and the final game.  Earl (Monk) Gross, popular New Philadelphia official, will referee all tournament games.  Gross this year will also officiate at the state scholastic tournament in Columbus.  The tournament is under the direction of Herbert P. Lohrman, Superintendent of Strasburg schools.  The following is the result of the drawings:

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25

7PM - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates vs Port Washington Purple Riders
8PM - Midvale Blue Devils - Bolivar Cardinals
9PM - Strasburg Tigers vs Baltic Eagles

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26

7PM - Mineral City Tigers vs Dundee Bulldogs
8PM - Gnadenhutten Indians vs Tuscarawas Broncos
9PM - Winners of the Sugarcreek/Port Washington and Midvale/Bolivar games

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27

2PM - 1st Semi-Final Game
3PM - 2nd Semi-Final Game
8:30PM - Championship Contest
