32 - All-Tournament Honors 1932
DOVER - Choices for forward on the Reporter's All-Tournament Team were easy. The positions naturally fell to John Studer of the Strasburg Tigers and Boyd Burkey of the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates. Both were high scorers, excellent passers and great floor men. Studer was stronger defensively, but Burkey was a 'dead' shot. Good centers were scarce in the tournament. Sam Schenk of Strasburg stood head and shoulders above the lot. Joe Steffe of Sugarcreek-Shanesville and Detrich of the Bolivar Cardinals were probably the best defensive men in the tourney and they were also capable of scoring points when they were needed. Detrich; however, played with a team that was eliminated in its 2nd game and for that reason, chiefly, is ranked on the 2nd team. Sylvester Harmon of Sugarcreek-Shanesville was a fine guard and also a scorer. He was aggressive, fast and a splendid floor man. He is ranked ahead of his teammate, HugoWassem; because, of his better guarding all the way. Wassem was a high scorer, but in making honorary selections a guard's 1st qualification is his defensive ability.
