DOVER - In the best played game of the afternoon sessions the Port Washington Eagles (1-0) (2-3) won an 8-point victory over the Baltic Eagles (0-1) (2-5), a scrappy crew that would never admit they were defeated. Baltic played a much better floor game, but their shots went wild. Port Washington kept at a distance by the tight Baltic defense, proved adept at sinking them from longer range. That's what won the ball game, the difference in shooting ability.
Paul Miller, #10, short Baltic guard and #8 Dale Rinehart, flashed for the Eagles, the former playing a great defense game and leading in scoring with 4 hard-earned field goals for 8 points. Rinehart scored 2 goals and 3 fouls for 7 markers. The Scheetz brothers, Owen and Paul, played good floor games. For the Port Eagles, #13 Earl Wheeland, veteran forward, showed an uncanny eye for the bucket and sank 2 distant shots. John Bond, #6, is one sweet floor man and #5 Jim Decker looked good at guard.
