DENNISON - The Midvale Blue Devils (3-2) were put out of the running in the 2nd event of the afternoon in the District Class B Basketball Tournament with the Millersburg Knights taking the decision after 4 fairly fast quarters by downing the Devils by 9 points.
Although they led at the end of the 1st quarter 8-3, Midvale was unable to continue the early burst of speed, Millersburg taking them in the 2nd quarter which ended with Midvale on the short end of a 17-13 count. When the whistle sounded ending the 3rd period the count was Millersburg 23, Midvale 20. Forward Captain Roy Smith of the Blue Devils had a great chance to keep his team in the lead in the 3rd period on fouls, but missed numerous shots from the free throw line. He scored 6 out of 17 attempts. Center Rumbaugh scored highest for the Knights with 4 field goals, while his teammate Forward Glasgo was with him with the same total. Bell and Strock, both Millersburg guards, were ejected from the game in the 4th quarter on personal fouls. This ends the run for the Tuscarawas County State title...
