29 - Midvale Eliminates Malvern 25-21 (3-2-29)

DOVER - The Midvale Blue Devils (3-1) defeated the Malvern Green Hornets by 4 points in the final and 10th game of the Sectional Class B Basketball Tournament at American Legion floor Saturday evening.  Despite the close score the affair was rather slow and uninteresting in view of the large crowd that attended the tournament.  The Green Hornets who were expected by most fans to offer feeble resistance to the Blue Devils entry, presented a snappy and fighting squad of players.

The Midvale cagers led 6-2 at the 1st period and the half ended in a 9-9 deadlock.  The 3rd quarter saw Midvale again ahead 15-14.  The final stanza showed Midvale played hard and fast to beat their scrappy and menacing opponents by 2 baskets.  Although probably not a better team, Malvern was a more balanced quintet than the victors.  Midvale guard Roy Smith and center Zucal who together gathered 18 markers, were the main cogs in Midvale's combine with 8 and 10 points, respectively.  Rohrer, Malvern forward, was high for his team with 7 points.  The Midvale Blued Devils move on to the Sectional Class B Basketball Tournament in Dennison.
