35 - Ragersville Makes Tourney Bow - Loses To Midvale 29-17 (2-22-35)
DOVER - Playing in its 1st tournament, little Ragersville high school's cagers grabbed off a lot of sentiment at Legion Hall last night, but fell short at point gathering and as a result fell before the Midvale Blue Devils (1-0) (11-7) 29-17.
The Ragersville Pirates (0-1) (0-1) were held to 1 point in the opening period, while the boys from the valley were edged out of the race in its early stages. The Blue Devils led 8-1 in the 1st quarter, 15-8 at the half and 21-13 at the close of the 3 quarter mark. Guard Frank Baumholtz of Midvale was high scorer with 12 points (5 field goals and 2 free throws). Forward John Baldwin followed that with 6 points (3 field goals). Ragersville's center Andrews led his team with 6 points (2 field goals and 2 foul tosses). Guard Zimmerman helped out with another 4 points (2 field buckets) for the Pirates.
