29 - Mineral City Tigers Win County Basketball League Title
DOVER - To Mineral City High School's undefeated quintet goes the 1928-29 Championship of the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball League. Finishing the season Friday night with its 9th consecutive league victory by defeating the Dundee Bulldogs on the latter's floor, the combine coached by W. E. Laws has won undisputed claim to the county title.
The Bolivar Cardinals finished 2nd with 7 victories and 2 defeats, in a tie with the Gnadenhutten Indians with the same number of victories and losses. The Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates finished next with 6 victories and 3 losses, while 4th place goes to the Baltic Eagles and the Strasburg Tigers who finished in a tie with 5 games won and 4 lost by each team.
The Midvale Blue Devils finished next in line with 3 victories and 6 losses. The Port Washington Purple Riders is next with 2 wins and 7 losses. Finishing ahead of the Dundee Bulldogs was the Tuscarawas Broncos in 9th place with 1 victory in 9 games. Dundee claims the cellar by virtue of not having won a league game this season.
