43 - Bolivar Floors Augusta 54-23 In Sectional (3-5-43)










Bolivar Cardinals Senior Guard Warren Klink went on his patented scoring sprees dropping in 25 points while picking up scoring honors and leading the Cardinals to a romp over the Augusta Blue Devils and picking up their 14th victory of the season downing Augusta 54-23.  Klink has 77 points in tournament play (4 games) for an average of 19.2 points per game.

DOVER - The Bolivar Cardinals (3-1) (14-9) ready to play after losing the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament to the Gnadenhutten Indians 33-32.  The team came out to put a hurt on the Augusta Blue Devils by trouncing them 54-23 and the Blue Devils were pointed homeward.

Senior guard Warren Klink (the highest scoring player in the Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournaments ever dropping in 188 points beating the best effort of the Midvale Marvel...Frank Brumholtz who canned 177 points and is now sitting in second place.), Captain of the Cardinals and switched to guard in this game and All-County performer, collected 8 field goals and 9 free throws for his total as he paced the Red Birds throughout their August trial.  Bolivar took a 9-5 lead in the 1st quarter of play, edged it up to 20-11 in the 2nd period and then literally poured it on in the 3rd stanza, leading as much as 41-13.  The 3rd quarter ended with the Cardinals holding a 41-15 margin.

Head Coach John Major used a full string of reserves in the contest, but the Red Birds continued to outdistance their foes and topped them 12 to 8 in the scoring in the 3rd period.  In addition to Klink's 25 points, guard Keene Lebold dumped in another 11 and center Russ Ross collected 9 points.  Hoopes of Augusta was high scorer with 8 points.
