36 - Midvale In 32-18 Revenge Game Over Bolivar (3-6-36)

DOVER - In the Tuscarawas County Tournament last week the Bolivar Cardinals (3-1) eliminated the Midvale Blue Devils (5-1) 30-18 sending the Blue Devils to the Consolation bracket...which they won.  They were out for revenge last night.

Revenge was in the form of bottling up the Cardinal's big center, Senior Paul Class, intercepting Bolivar's fastest passes, making good their follow-ups and hitting the bucket with devastating accuracy.  Their passing was flawless.  Even though he was kept "bottled-up" by 2 Midvale players, Class came through with 9 points (4 field goals and a free throw) and nobody can deny that the Cardinals played good basketball.  But, the 32-18 victory was decisive for the Blue Devils.  The scrappy little Midvale team displayed some of the closest guarding seen this season on the Legion floor.  The 1st period showed Midvale ahead 5-4, by the time halftime showed up, Midvale was leading by 8 points, 14-6.  At the end of the 3rd quarter, Midvale was nursing a 9 point lead, 20-11.  During the 4th quarter, the Blue Devils picked up another 12 points in securing their victory.

Junior guard Frank Baumholtz, Midvale's fire power, and the other guard, Delbert Keffer, were keymen in the team's offensive, scoring 15 points (5 field goals and 5 free throws) and 7 markers (3 field goals and a free throw), respectively, while center Jack Walker and forward John Baldwin devoted most of their time to breakng up Bolivar's attempts to score.
