33 - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Slams Stone Creek 60-19 (2-23-33)









DOVER - Skimming along in easy fashion with power to spare, the Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (1-0) (11-7) disposed of the Stone Creek Panthers (0-1) (0-1) in the opening game of the tournament at Legion Hall last night 60-19.  Led by guard Norris of Sugarcreek-Shanesville, early began to pile up a long lead that removed, by the end of the half, any doubt concerning the outcome.  The Pirates took 15 points in the 1st period to the Panthers' four.  The half ended 34-6 and the 3rd quarter 53-11.

Head Coach Bahler of the Pirates, used his 2nd team during the final period and the Panthers counted 8 points against them...their biggest period of the game.  Norris of Sugarcreek-Shanesville was high scorer with 20 points made on 9 goals and 2 fouls.  Boyd "Doc" Burkey was 2nd with 12, six field goals.  Hawks, Cronebach and Wherley each counted 4 points for the losers.
