25 - Strasburg Trounces Winfield 45-13 (2-27-25)

SUGARCREEK - Dundee, Tuscarawas and Winfield were eliminated by the top-heavy scores in the preliminaries Friday night with the Bolivar-Tuscarawas game being the closest of the 3 clashes.  The Strasburg Tigers (1-0) (6-1) clobbered the Winfield High School tournament guests in the final preliminary.  Winfield (0-1) took an early 3-point lead, but didn't hold on to it for long.  The half ended 14-5 in favor of the Tigers and as the game progressed the margin between the 2 teams increased.

Head Coach Ralph Lohrman, of Strasburg, was unable to be with the team being confined to his bed with an attack of influenza.  He will not be able to see the finals of the tournament.  Luke Warnes was the shining light for the Strasburg Tigers dropping in 13 field goals for a total of 26 points.  Walter Neidenthal, Edwin Wyss and John McGonigal each tallied twice while Delbert Gordon and Moody each scored once from the floor.  Free throws from Glen Jones and Moody completed the Tiger scoring.  Every Strasburg man on the court scored at leased 2 points.
