23 - Gnadenhutten Indians Slams Tuscarawas Broncos 29-7 (3-10-23)

The 1923 Gnadenhutten Indians Basketball Team.  Front:  Newton Cappel - Ted Reinke - Vic Schreiner - Paul Williams and Leonard Blick.  Back:  Head Coach D.V. Kennedy - George Wentz - Ed Milliken - Walter Glass - Al Sindlinger - Carl Martin - Ray Peter and Harold Thomas.

DOVER - The 3rd and final game of the afternoon was of the same calibre as the 1st two.  Gnadenhutten (1-0), headed by Martin, the huge center, swamped Tuscarawas (0-1).  The Broncos never had a chance as Gnadenhutten started out by scoring 3 baskets within 5 minutes.  Gnaden, headed by Shreiner, Reinke and Martin, kept the ball most the time and shot almost at will.  The 1st quarter ended 18-0, the half 21-5 and the 3rd quarter 27-3.  Coach Kennedy ran in four substitutes in the last quarter and this helped to keep down the Gnadenhutten total.  Tusky made only field goals during the whole game.  Eichel led Tuscarawas with 4 points, while Kopp and Walton followed up with 2 and 1.  Shreiner had 9 points and Martin 8 points to lead the winners.  Reinke hit for 6 points, while Thomas had 4 and Glass 2.
