24 - 2nd Annual Tuscarawas County Class B Basketball Tournament

DOVER - The 2nd Annual Tuscarawas County Basketball Tournament is to be held in the American Legion Building this year.  Nine teams will take part in the tournament:

Bolivar Cardinals
Dennison Railroaders
Dundee Bulldogs
Gnadenhutten Indians
Mineral City Tigers
Newcomerstown Trojans
Strasburg Tigers
Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates
Tuscarawas Broncos

A county tournament, without the present incentive for winning, was held here last year, the visiting teams being the guests of Dover merchants.  This year the hall is provided by the Dover Chamber of Commerce and it is expected the attendance will far exceed that of last year.  Improved roads leading to each town represented will doubtless bring a fine representation from each place.  Hummon, of Dover and Bush, of Uhrichsville, had been selected as officials, but as Coach Hummon will be unable to work that day, the vacancy has been filled by appointing Principal Ake of New Philadelphia High School.

The tournament will open at 9:30 in the morning.  Another session will be held in the afternoon and the final session in the evening.  Tickets good for all three sessions or for any session may be secured from any school head in the county.  A special rate of 10cents has been made for all school pupils.  Regular admittance price for each session...will be 25 cents if ticket is bought at the gate.

The tournament is expected to be the greatest event of the kind ever held in Dover.  It has awakened wide interest and doubtless a large numer of local fans and friends will help swell the crowd from the out-of-town districts.
