25 - Bolivar Shades Mineral City 29-21 (2-28-25)





SUGARCREEK - The Bolivar-Mineral City game was a thriller throughout, both teams extending themselves to their playing limits to annex a victory.  The Bolivar Cardinals (2-0) (4-2) gained the edge with their superior passing; although, the Mineral  City Tiger lads (0-1)(1-3) were getting into all of the Bolivar plays.  Forrest Whitmer was a big factor in Bolivar's victory, the fast right forward scoring 14 of his team's points and acting as the pivot for all the passing attacks.  Gordon Kienzle did some great floor work and scored 3 field goals and a free throw for his team.  Randall Garber was also playing his best game of his high school career, registering 3 field goals and a free throw while breaking up numerous Mineral City attacks.  Wyle was the star basket-getter for Mineral City scoring 5 field goals.  Center Fred McKinney scored 9 points for the Tigers caging 3 field goals from the floor and adding 3 free throws.  The game was exceptionally rough at times.  Right guard John Norris and right forward Gordon Kienzle of the Cardinals were ejected because of personal fouls.  Bolivar scored 7 of 15 free throw tries and Mineral City made 5 of 15 attempts.
