58 - Basketball Snowflakes From 1958
SPRINGFIELD, OHIO - Terry Deems tallied 26 poinst here on Wednesday night to set a new team scoring mark and led Wittenberg to an 87-47 Ohio Conference victory over Heidelberg in the final game of the season for both teams.
Deems broke his team's 3-year scoring mark with a total of 1,238 points for the season. The previous mark was set in 1955 by Jack Hawken. Wittenberg hitting 50 percent of their shots, jumped to an early lead and mustered a 40-19 margin at intermission.
The winners finished the season with a 19-3 overall record and a 14-1 mark in the Ohio Conference. Heidelberg came up with a 7-13 season mark and a 6-10 League showing.
