STRASBURG SPOTLIGHT - One of 2nd-Year Head Coach Don Martin's Strasburg Tigers stars this year is Senior Dick Froman, a high scoring guard. He scored 10 points in the game against the Dundee Bulldogs to raise his tournament total to 24 points for an 8-point average per game.
DOVER - Head Coach Don Martin's Strasburg Tigers (2-1) (17-5) (76-20) completely outclassed the Dundee Bulldogs (1-2) (22-42) as they destroyed the Bulldogs 64-26 in a Consolation Division game. Coach Martin used 12 men in the rout, but it was the offensive punch provided by Senior forward Tom Miller who started the Dogs on the road to defeat.
Miller pumped in 4 field goals in the 1st period alone and Senior guard Dick Froman netted 2 as the Tigers broke out in front in the opening minutes of the battle closing out the 1st quarter 15-6. The second period mirrored the 1st quarter with the Corsairs increasing their lead to 16 points by halftime...Strasburg 30-14. The Tigers continued their onslaught as the offense picked up another 21 points, while Dundee could only manage 7 points in the 3rd stanza...Strasburg 51-21. The Reserve teams slugged it out in the 4th canto.
The Bulldogs' fast-breaking attack was slowed down by the Strasburg defense and the 2 Bulldog aces, Sophomores center Loris Hostetler and Louis Hostetler, were unable to find the range from out front.
Miller's 18 points paced both teams and his teammate, Froman was rimming 10 markers for the Bengals. Loris Hostetler meshed 8 points to lead Dundee.
