25 - Sugarcreek Loses Heartbreaker 23-21 (3-14-25)
CAMBRIDGE - Sugarcreek-Shanesville Pirates (4-2) was eliminated from the Eastern Ohio Class B Basketball Tournament by Caldwell High School at the McMahon Gym, Cambridge, Saturday morning. The last half of the game was a thriller, the Tuscarawas County lads spurting in a desperate effort to overcome a 4-point lead. The half ended 13-9 in Caldwell's favor, but Forrest Miller and Dan Meyers worked like Trojans and brought the count to 21 before the final whistle blew. Sugarcreek made 11 baskets, while Caldwell made 10. Carollton High School rode on to the semi-final by defeating Toronto High 32-12. McConnelsville High School defeated Mingo Junction, 18-15 and Muskingum Academy defeated Marietta Junior High 24-22. Carrollton will play Calwell this afternoon, the finals to be played Saturday night.
