This is the Gnadenhutten Indians home court. A gymnasium has yet to be built. All games they played where played away, except one. On Thanksgiving Day they were visited by the Newcomerstown Trojans. During the season (no county league in the 1922-23 season) the Indians record was 2-4:

Gnaden 27 - Newcomerstown 17 (outdoor court?)
Newcomerstown 31 - Gnaden 14
Sugarcreek-Shanesville 21 - Gnaden 9
Gnaden 14 - Uhrichsville 11

DOVER - Strasburg High School (Tigers) won the 1st Annual Basketball Tournament, arranged by the Dover Chamber of Commerce and conducted by the Tuscarawas County School Board, on the Legion floor in Dover Saturday afternoon and evening. Playing one game in the afternoon and two in the evening, Strasburg outclassed its 3 opponents and carried away the beautiful silver trophy awarded by the Daily Reporter. Coach Sammy Watkins' proteges grew stronger each game and broke the tournament scoring records in the 5th and final fracas. They defeated the Dundee quintet 26-8 in the 2nd game of the afternoon, downed Mineral City 22-12 in the semi-final in the evening and then called it a day by smothering Gnadenhutten 52-16 in the final event. Strasburg clearly outclassed all other teams in the tournament. For a few minutes the crowd thought she was going to meet her match in Mineral City, but the Sandy Valley boys awakened as the game progressed and Strasburg ended the game "under wraps." The 3rd quarter ended 12-10, for Strasburg, but the Watkins crew opened up and piled up ten points to Mineral City's two in the last stanza.
Playing even faster than in their previous battles, the Strasburg Tigers (3-0) went right after the Gnadenhutten Indians (1-1) in the final game of the tournament and made victory certain after only a minute or two had been played. Sweeping up and down the floor, passing at will and charging viciously under the baskets, Watkins' boys soon had the Gnadenhutten five trampled almost to pieces. As in the other games, Jim Foster did his part assisted by Herbert Doney and Keene Van Curen. In the 3rd quarter Foster dribbled through the entire Gnadenhutten team and then dropped the ball through the net. Van Curen was at his best in scrimmages under the basket and made 4 straight baskets in one quarter. The 1st quarter ended 12-2, the half 31-5, the 3rd quarter 39-9. Shreiner was the only Gnadenhutten player to show particular class. The Indians were led by Shreiner's 6 points, followed by Reinke and Thomas with 4 each. Foster of Strasburg picked up18 points, Van Curen had 16 and Doney 14...all tournament highs. Slim Jim Foster of Strasburg carried off the individual scoring honors for the day. This chap made eighteen field baskets...eight of them in the final game...and pitched 4 fouls, a total of 40 of his team's 110 points in the 3 contests.
