47 - Bolivar Cruises Against Stone Creek 60-46 (2-15-47)









DOVER - The Bolivar Cardinals (1-1) (14-6) (37-31) eliminated further tournament play with the Stone Creek Golden Panthers (0-2) (0-18) (11-28) 60-46 in another Consolation Division battle last night at Memorial Hall.  The 2 teams met once during the season and the Cardinals won that one 73-40.

Stone Creek held up in the 1st quarter and was down only 5 points when the period ended 17-12...Bolivar.  The Cardinal defense locked up the Golden Panther offensive in the 2nd period by handing the Panthers only 4 more points, while the Red Birds dropped in 14 points for a 15-point lead at intermission 31-16.  The Bolivar offense scored 17 points and locked up the game at this point 50-31 in the 3rd stanza; although Stone Creek did much better in the period by hitting the hoops for 21 points.  Both teams were more-or-less going through the motions in the last quarter picking up close to 10 points apiece.

Guard Junior Lundenberger racked up 21 points (8 field goals and 6 free throws) for the Cardinals, while, forward Junior Murry contributed 17 to the conquest.  Center Duane Arbogast registered 18 points (6 field goals and 6 free throws) as forwards Dick Gasser and Verle Buehler followed with 11 and 10 markers for the losing Panther team.  The Red Birds cashed 12 of 19 free throws, while the Cats connected on 12 of 25 as 38 personals were called, 24 against Bolivar.
