DOVER - The Tuscarawas County Class B Tournament was to end its 1st week's play tonight with a 3-game schedule after the Gnadenhutten Indians, Strasburg Tigers and Baltic Eagles all won games last night before a crowd of over 1,000 at Memorial Hall.  Gnaden, County League Champions and sporting a record of 20-1, was impressive in their 21st win in eliminating the Midvale Blue Devils, last year's State semi-finalists, from the regular tourney 43-22, while Strasburg dropped a weakened Stone Creek Golden Panthers five 27-20 and Baltic sent Mineral City home for good 28-15 in the Consolation Division.

A total of 969 paid customers attended last night's session, according to Tournament Manager Harold Everett of Tuscarawas who said only 699 paid to see the 2nd session of last year's tournament.

The Baltic Eagles (1-1) (18-26) and the Mineral City Tigers (0-2) (9-28) game, final one on last night's program, saw the Eagles top the Tigers for the 2nd time this year and eliminate them from the tournament.  The game was listless with Baltic leading all the way and Junior forward John Young scoring 9 points to lead the attack.

In the 1st quarter, Baltic jumped to the lead ending the period 8-4.  By halftime the Eagles maintained the lead 14-9.  The 3rd stanza showed the Tigers keeping up with Baltic, but the Eagles were still outscoring Mineral City 7-5...Baltic 21-14.  In the final quarter, the Eagle defense held the Tigers to but one point keeping the game on ice.

Senior forward Wallace Hahn followed up Young with 8 points for Baltic, while Mineral City's Junior guard Tom Smitley also dumped in 8 points.  Referees Ed Adams of Akron and John Gabor of Alliance officiated at all games.
