35 - Strasburg Trashes Sacred Heart 36-18 (3-8-35)

DOVER - The Strasburg Tigers (4-1) had little trouble eliminating the Coshocton Sacred Heart Fighting Saints 36-18 in the 1st game on Saturday night in the Eastern Ohio Northern Sectional Tournament.  From the start, Strasburg's Head Coach Paul M. Roby's boys took the lead.  It was Senior guard Adrian "Fuzz" Miller who tallied most in the 1st half.  In the 2nd half, Senior forward Jim Dreher and Junior guard Don Scherer kept the Fighting Irish guards worried.  The game was rough throughout, replete with personal fouls, most of which were called on Coshocton.  Two technical fouls for rebuking Referee Gross were also called on Sacred Heart.

The Tigers' offensive game was enhanced by speedy passing which bewildered the Saints, while the man-to-man defense was airtight during many minutes of the fracas.  Strasburg ran up an 11-3 1st quarter and maintained the lead in the 2nd quarter 18-9.  The Tiger lead was increased to 16 points and the scoreboard show 27-11 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Coshocton Sacred Heart collected 8 points, while Strasburg hit for 9 more points in the 4th Stanza to put the game away.

Miller of Strasburg took game honors with 10 points (3 field goals and 4 free throws), while his mates, Scherer and Miller, followed that up with 8 and 7 points (4 field goals) and (2 field goals and 3 free tosses).  Tiedt lead the Fighting Irish with a total of 7 points (3 field goals and a foul toss).
