35 - Eastern Ohio Northern Sectional Basketball Tournament Update

DOVER - The Strasburg Tigers (4-1) play the Tuscarawas Broncos (4-0) and the Dennison Railroaders and Bolivar Cardinals (4-1) meet outside outfits.  Strasburg and Tusky will fight it out again tonight at Legion Hall in the Class B Sectional Cage Tournament.  The game is scheduled for 8PM.  Dennison will meet the Malvern Green Hornets at 7PM and Bolivar, Tuscarawas County runner-up, will clash with the Millersburg Knights at 9PM.  Admission prices for tonight's session will be 25 and 50 cents, according to  E.W. Blackstone, Tournament Manager, who made the announcement today.  For 1st round games the admission were 25 and 35 cents.  Winners of tonight's contest will qualify to play in the District Tournament at Dennison next week.

The Tigers won the right to play the Broncos by tucking away the Coshocton Sacred Heart Fighting Irish 36-18, last night.  Millersburg became a finalist by downing Warsaw 26-16, while Bolivar checked the Philo Electrics 41-25.  The Cardinals are favored over Millersburg, the Railroaders over the Green Hornets in tonight's rounds.  With the 4 Tuscarawas County teams in tonight's finalist contest, most interest will be centered on the Tiger-Bronco fracas.  Hundreds of fans are expected to see the contest.  Twice defeated by Tuscarawas, Head Coach Paul M. Roby's County Consolation winners will be unleased for revenge.

Conqueror, Head Coach Charmis Davis' county champions will battle to retain it's jinx over Strasburg.  The winner of that game will be considered the strong contender for honors at Dennison.  Tuscarawas edged Strasburg from the County Class B League top a few weeks ago at Tusky by a 17-16 one-point score.  Then, in the tourney last week before a record crowd, the Broncos again beat Strasburg 34-23 and the Tigers reverted to the Consolation rounds and won the title there.  A crowd of only 250 watched last night's games at Legion Hall.  Earl D. Gross and Jimmie Morgan of New Philadelphia were referees.
